This is dear little Autumn. She is 8 weeks old. She was found last Friday in Waterville in the condition shown below. The people that found her took her to a vet and were given various meds for her. They took her home and hoped for the best. Knowing she was in horrific condition, and not having any more money to spend on her they began seeking help. Nobody had room for her. They put an ad on Kijiji and a couple of people answered her telling her of H.A.R.T. I received an email from her with this picture attached. My heart broke. When this dear little angel arrived at my house the one eye was much worse than what this photo shows. It was bulging out. I took her immediately to our vet, Dr. Jody Rice. She was tested (negative) for feline leukemia. Dr. Rice immediately cleaned her up and said the bad eye must be removed. She also gave her a shot of convenia (antibiotic). Autumn will have her sugery on Thursday, November 10th. Her care will be costly and we are asking donations of ANY size for this sweet kitten, who by the way really is a darling. Payments can be made through credit card directly to Port Royal Animal Hospital, (902) 532-PETS (tell them it is for the H.A.R.T. kitten "Autumn", or through paypal, by clicking on the Donate button on this page, or through email money transfer: valleyhart@hotmail.com OR by cheque to: 'H.A.R.T.', 1147 New Road, Aylesford, N.S. B0P 1C0. Autumn is receiving excellent care from Dr. Rice and the staff at Port Royal Animal Hospital. Thank you so much for anything you can do to help with her bill.
BEFORE NOW ![]() "Autumn", sweet darling angel Welcome everyone to the official website of HART (Homeless Animal Rescue Team). We are very proud of our rescue, and our website. We hope you enjoy your visit here. We will be adding more and more information every day, so please check back often. Homeless animals may get into trash containers, defecate in the neighborhood and bite or attack. Spaying or neutering your pet means that your animal and its potential offspring won't contribute to the population of unwanted pets. You can also enjoy your spayed or neutered pet more. Female pets that have been spayed do not go into heat. You won't have the mess that comes with the female reproductive cycle or the boisterous, noisy male suitors. Spaying and neutering may also reduce the risk of certain health problems, offering you more years with your beloved dog or cat. Many people are surprised to learn that nationwide more than 3 million animals are euthanized in shelters. You might think that these are animals born in the streets or there is something "wrong" with them. But more often they are the offspring of cherished family pets, even purebreds. Maybe someone's dog or cat got out just that one time or maybe the litter was intentional, but efforts to find enough good homes failed. Still the result is homeless animals that have to be euthanized because there are more dogs and cats entering shelters than there are people willing to provide them with loving care. Even if you do find homes for your pet's puppies or kittens, that means there are fewer homes available to take in other pets from shelters. Spay/neuter is the only permanent, 100-percent effective method of birth control for dogs and cats. We are trying to rescue as many cats and kittens as we possibly can, however, it requires an awful lot of work and an unbelievable amount of money. Our vet bill alone is always high and without donations and/or fundraising we cannot keep rescuing. Please donate what you can to help H.A.R.T. with rescuing. We often rescue injured and/or sick animals that require much more than the routine testing, vaccinating and altering (spay/neuter). We have a DONATIONS page where you can donate directly by paypal or credit card. Alternatively payments can be sent to our vet's office, Port Royal Animal Hospital (532-PETS) or cheques mailed to us at: H.A.R.T., 1147 New Road, Aylesford, NS B0P 1C0 (902) 341-HART (Laurie) We hope you enjoy our website. We try to update it as often as possible. All of our events are up to date here. We are currently seeking good foster homes. We provide all of the food and litter, so it would not cost you any money at all to foster for us, all you need to provide is shelter, love and guidance. If you are interested in fostering get in touch with us. If you see abuse or neglect towards any animal please contact the Metro branch of the Nova Scotia SPCA at: 1-888-703-7722. It is very important that you call and report anything you see that is causing harm to an animal, or when an animal is not being looked after properly. We wish to remind you that animal abuse IS illegal. If you would like to help with donations other than monetary, there are MANY things we need! More than anything donations of food and litter are needed! We use Taste of the Wild dry (Canyon River flavour ONLY), this food is for all life stages, ages 12 weeks and up and we purchase it exclusively from the Family Feed Store in Middleton, not only are their p rices the best in the Province but this isa family run business and we really love supporting them.
