ADOPT US!
The kitties listed below are all up for adoption. Please click on their photograph for direct email contact. All of our kittens are treated for parasites, feline leukemia tested and kittens over the age of six months are feline AIDS tested, vaccinated and spayed or neutered before being adopted out. The adoption fee for kittens is $125.00 for males or females. However, the adoption fee for adult cats will vary, please talk to us about any cat (that is not a kitten) you may be interested in. We take pride in taking such good care of the cats/kittens we adopt out. We hope you will take very good care of the kitties you adopt from HART. We love them very much. From time to time we will have dogs up for adoption as well! The adoption fee will vary with dogs, depending on the amount of veterinary care they required to bring them back to health, etc. It will never be outrageous though we promise!
Please see the next page for new pictures of these rescued boys and to see more animals up for adoption!

ROSIE HAD HER BABIES! Born August 10 at night. She delivered five healthy beautiful babies. Three are orange and white and two are oranges. Foster Mom Angela thinks they are all boys! We will update asap. Stay tuned for pictures! Rosie is very happy and is being an excellent mother! Congratulations Rosie dear! (She was ABANDONED in an apartment in Halifax :( SPCA brought her to us as they had no room and we didn't want the inevitable happening to her)

August 14, 2008 H.A.R.T. rescued three badly neglected dogs. They are about 7-9 years old and have been tied outside for many years. This case had been reported to the SPCA and Kings Co. Animal Control repeatedly over the years by a nice man. No one ever did anything. Today H.A.R.T. was contacted by this man after he learned of us. We rescued them tonight. They are very thin, loaded with fleas and have fur missing in spots. They were out of their minds thirsty, not to mention very hungry. Their choke chains were rusted and the fur was worn off their necks. For now we are fostering them, we will try to see if there is a "dog rescue or shelter" that has facilities designed for dogs to take them. If no one will take them we will continue to foster them and get them to where they need to be. They are VERY adoptable, sweet, kind and gentle. They are medium sized dogs, various mix. Please contact us if you are interested in giving these wonderful lads a forever home where they can see for themselves what it is like to have a real, loving home. We will neuter them asap if we keep fostering them. We are treating them for their parasites tonight.
UPDATE: The three dogs are being housed at TLC in Digby where they have more appropriate kennels for them, thank you so much Dorothy! H.A.R.T. will continue to care for the 3 dogs with reference to their veterinary care (bill) and adoptions. Dr. Rice was very disturbed at their condition today, she donated lots of special vet food to them, thank you Jody we love you! She will neuter the boys and vaccinate them when they are stronger, they cannot even be bathed yet :( Their skin is in horrible condition and they are SO emaciated. You cannot tell by their pics as their fur is covering most of the damage. We are accepting donations to help with our vet bill, please donate through this website OR alternatively directly on our account at Port Royal Animal Hospital: 532-PETS. Thank you to all of you who have already donated, you are incredible. They are on meds now and on their way to a successful recovery! We are so pleased to have been able to rescue these boys, they are soooo loving and sweet.
RESCUED DOGS!!!!
Getting the boys settled in at night after their rescue!
"Smokey" ready for his first walk in probably MANY years, if he ever had one.
From Top: Buddy, Bandit, Smokey going on their first walk, poor guys were throwing up during this walk. They are on the road to recovery with LOTS of love and medical attention. If you are interested in adopting one of these lads please click on the photo. They are about 7-8 years old and have LOTS of love left, please help make their last years incredible ones, they've never had ANY.
Poor emaciated, anemic Smokey, his back is a mess from fleas. All of these dogs have skin like this, you just can't see it all through the pics. Their ribs and hips bulging through their skin.
"Lacy" is a gorgeous calico, about one year old. She has been tested, vaccinated and treated for parasites. She will be spayed on Sept 5 and then ready for her forever home. Her previous owner had her scheduled to be euthanized!! Our vet's staff called us to save this darling's life! She is great, she isn't fussy about other cats (doesn't mind little kittens however) and will tolerate dogs! Click on her photo if you are interested and to discuss an adoption fee!
